Serine sublimes with spontaneous chiral amplification.

چکیده
Sublimation of near-racemic samples of serine yields a sublimate which is highly enriched in the major enantiomer; this simple one-step process occurs under relatively mild conditions, and represents a possible mechanism for the chiral amplification step in homochirogenesis.

Spontaneous anti-resolution in heterochiral clusters of serine.
Chirality plays an important role in the formation and stability of noncovalent clusters which are made of chiral molecules. It is shown that clusters can exhibit a preference for both homochirality and heterochirality. Serine cluster formation is dominated by the formation of heterochiral aggregates, with the exception of the previously observed homochiral serine octamer. Thus, the majority of...
متن کاملMirror symmetry breaking and chiral amplification in foldamer-based supramolecular helical aggregates.
Spontaneous asymmetric generation of supramolecular chiral fibers was observed in the folding induced self-assembly of a lock-washer shaped foldamer. A secondary nucleation growth mechanism is proposed to explain the observed chiral amplification or deracemization of these supramolecular fibers.
متن کاملTHE FRANK KINETIC MODEL FOR SPONTANEOUS CHIRAL SYMMETRY BREAKING WITH VARIABLE CONCENTRATION OF THE ACHIRAL SUBSTRATE
This paper considers the possibility of spontaneous transition of aracemic mixture (composed of equal amounts of two enantiomeric species, say L and D) into a monochiral state (in which only one enantiomer, say L, is present). Transitions of this kind have been recently experimentally observed. A plausible approach to this phenomenon is a model put forward by Frank, based on simple laws of ...
متن کاملSpontaneous formation of organic helical architectures through dynamic covalent chemistry.
The spontaneous formation of organic helical structures, accompanied with an amplification of chirality, by dynamic covalent bonds between achiral and chiral building blocks is reported.
متن کاملStochastic Approach to Enantiomeric Excess Amplification and Chiral Symmetry Breaking
Stochastic aspects of chemical reaction models related to the Soai reactions as well as to the homochirality in life are studied analytically and numerically by the use of the master equation and random walk model. For systems with a recycling process, a unique final probability distribution is obtained by means of detailed balance conditions. With a nonlinear autocatalysis the distribution has...
